Our beloved mother, wife, and friend, Bernice T. Malta passed away peacefully on February 16th surrounded by her loving family and friends. Bernice fought courageously and passed shortly due to complications of motor neuron disease. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Clarence Santos. Bernice is survived by her husband Joseph and her two brothers Al of Lodi, CA and Frank of Vacaville.

Bernice was born on July 18, 1939 in Sacramento California. She attended Rio Vista High School and married the of love her life, Joseph Malta in 1957. Recently, Bernice and Joseph celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August 2017 with family and friends. Bernice has two sons; Joey of Bellingham Wash. and Greg (Judy) of Lompoc, CA. Bernice was an incredible grandmother to her three grandchildren, Brett, Delaney, and Ethan. Bernice was also very close to her numerous nephews and nieces.

Bernice worked in the Solano County Courts and retired in 1998 after 23 years of service. She enjoyed her retirement years traveling and spending time with family and friends. Bernice was always up for a road trip and new adventure. She traveled to Portugal, went on cruise ships, numerous road trips, etc. Her two favorite vacation spots were San Diego and Lake Tahoe.

Bernice was a caring and loving wife for over 60 years. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out. Numerous acquaintances would affectionately refer to her as “Bea Mama, BB, Aunt Bea, Mom, etc.” Bernice loved that the strict lines of blood and friendship were long blurred and everyone is family! She lived her life with kindness and love. She was always smiling and loved being with her family and friends. She will always be an inspiration to us all and will be greatly missed.

Public visitation will be held at Oakmont Funeral Home, Vacaville, CA on March 1st, 2018 at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Rosary/Vigil to follow the visitation.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Vacaville, CA on March 2nd, 2018 at 10:00 am. Reception to follow at the St. Mary’s Hall.
